Is winter wearing you out?

Winter is knocking at our doors, bringing a familiar pattern: the sun sets before the workday is over, the cold settles in, and tiredness becomes a constant companion. Reaching for another afternoon coffee feels almost automatic.
Except that coffee comes at a cost: when evening comes, it’s still in your system and undermines sleep that’s already being tested by the lack of light. The result: a lighter night, a harder wake-up… and even more coffee the next day. It’s a vicious cycle.
There’s another way to support your energy in winter, without stimulants and without a crash. It comes down to two powders: moringa and baobab.
Why we’re more tired in winter
First, light. In Quebec, winter days are short, and daylight is the main signal that sets our internal clock. When it’s lacking, alertness drops, sleep gets thrown off, and mood can follow. It’s the first cause of winter fatigue, and no food—no matter how good—replaces light. Getting daylight exposure first thing in the morning (a walk outside, even a short one) and, if needed, light therapy do most of the work on that front, as does vitamin D, which our skin barely produces from October to April at our latitude.
Then there’s sleep. More fragile nights make for heavier days. Anything that disrupts sleep—including caffeine consumed late in the day—amplifies next-day fatigue.
And finally, diet. That’s where you have real leverage. Certain nutrients directly support the body’s energy production: iron, B vitamins, magnesium. And an immune system that’s working hard all winter also draws on your reserves. That’s exactly where the moringa + baobab duo becomes interesting.
Let’s be honest: if your fatigue is new, unusual, or persists despite everything, talk to a healthcare professional. What follows is nutritional support, not a diagnosis.
Iron and vitamin C: nutrients that work together
Moringa provides iron. Iron is essential for transporting oxygen in the blood, and insufficient intake is one of the classic causes of fatigue. Moringa leaf powder contains, as a rule of thumb, about 40 mg per 100 g (a 5 g teaspoon therefore gives you a little more than 1 mg, or around 10% of the daily value). It also provides B vitamins, magnesium, and complete proteins—nutrients that each contribute, in their own way, to energy production.
Baobab provides vitamin C, and that’s where the duo gets smart. Baobab pulp is among the most concentrated natural sources of vitamin C: about 280 mg per 100 g, several times the amount in an orange by equal weight. And vitamin C plays a triple role in our story:
- it helps reduce fatigue;
- it supports the immune system, which is heavily relied on in the cold season;
- and above all, it promotes the absorption of plant-based iron—the type of iron found in moringa.
In other words: baobab helps your body make better use of the iron in moringa. Taken separately, each does its part. Together, they reinforce each other. That synergy is what makes the duo a coherent winter ritual—not just two powders in the same glass.
Energy without the crash
No caffeine, no borrowing from tomorrow. The energy you get from coffee and energy drinks is borrowed energy: a spike, then a drop, then the urge to have more. What moringa and baobab provide is different: nutrients that support the body’s normal energy-production mechanisms. No spike, no drop—just a steady baseline that builds day after day.
Usable at any time. Without caffeine, neither one has to worry about the clock. Baobab is best taken in the morning, cold or lukewarm—its vitamin C loses potency with heat. Moringa, on the other hand, can also be enjoyed in the evening as a comforting hot drink, without turning your night into a battlefield. In the depths of winter, when sleep is already fragile, that’s a real advantage—not a detail.
It’s gentle energy, but real: the kind that gives you wings without taking them back at 3 PM.
Your winter ritual, in practice
Morning: the vitality glass. In a large glass of water or a smoothie, mix one teaspoon of moringa and one teaspoon of baobab: the tangy taste of baobab wakes up the herbaceous side of moringa, and the vitamin C starts its absorption work right from the start. Our moringa-baobab vitality juice gives you the exact recipe, ready in just a few minutes.
Evening: the warming latte. A cup of warm plant-based milk, a teaspoon of moringa, a touch of maple syrup or honey: our caffeine-free moringa latte is enjoyed just like a hot chocolate—slowly, in the warmth, while it’s -15 outside. And at 9 PM just like at 7 AM, it won’t cost you your night’s sleep.
Consistency above all. Two small spoonfuls a day, every day: it’s consistency, much more than an occasional large dose, that makes the difference over an entire winter.
